Advice from Powell’s

One of my favorite things to get in my inbox every month is the Powell’s newsletter. I love the essays and interviews. Today I was reading an essay called “Advice I Wish I Knew about 20 Years Ago” by Jessica Page Morrell, and she gave this little tidbit related to TypeTribe (obviously she was outright referring to TypeTribe, but she didn’t actually say it):

5. Before you send out your manuscript, solicit feedback from readers. If your well-read friends don’t understand your story or think your protagonist is a pushover, or would rather stick glass shards into their eyeballs than keep reading your pages, alas, an editor or agent will probably agree.
